Ceremony will be at Williamstown High School) State
Meet
1. The 1999 site will be Williamstown High School Course on October 30, 1999. The
Director will be Dorsey Cheuvront.
2.The coaches' meeting at the State Meet must be completed a minimum of thirty minutes
prior to starting time. Meeting time will be 9:15 - AA, 12:45 - AAA.
3. 1999 Meet Time (Two Classes)
- 10:00 am - Girls AAA
- 10:45 am - Boys AAA
- 12:00 pm - Awards
- 1:30 pm - Girls AA
- 2:15 pm - Boys AA
- 3:30 pm - Awards
4. Results from individuals and teams must be turned into the official scorer no later
than ten (10) minutes after the completion of the race. Failure to comply will result in
disqualification of team or individual.
5. The finish line at all State Cross Country Meets will be video taped for order of
finish only.
6.Practice, touring, walking the State Meet site will be Friday, 4:45 p.m. until 6:00
p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Course guides will be available after
4:45 p.m. on Friday. No one will be permitted on the course other than the specified
times.
7. State Qualifiers:
a. Teams (Boys and Girls)
Regions with the following number of teams who finish the regional race will qualify
the indicated number of teams.
1-5 teams - I qualifier 6- 10 teams - 2 qualifiers b. Individuals (Boys and Girls)
Individuals in the region who finish in the top five (5) inclusive of the qualifying
teams will qualify for the state meet.
8. Admission for the State Meet will be: Adults - $6.00 Students - $5.00
Courtesy and identification Cards for Principals and Assistant Principals will
be accepted.
Awards
The winner and runner-up teams (boys and girls) at the State Meet shall receive
trophies and individual plaques provided by the WVSSAC, and individual awards will be
presented to the first ten place finishers. Regional team winners will receive a team
plaque. Regional Directors may have the option of presenting ribbons to the top ten
individuals, boys and girls.
West Virginia Cross Country Invitational
All West Virginia high school cross country teams are invited to participate in the
Williamstown Invitational. The meet will be held at the State Meet Site in Williamstown on
September 18, 1999. This meet will give all schools the opportunity to compete on the
state meet course prior to the state meet competition.

JUNIOR HIGH/MIDDLE SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY REGULATIONS
1. Practice will begin on Monday of Week 7 (August 16) and the first meet may be held
on Wednesday of Week 9 (September 1). The season must be completed by Tuesday of Week 16
(October 19).
2. In junior high and middle school programs, it is recommended to run a course of 3K
(3000) but not to exceed a maximum of 5K (5000).
